Aden Hotchkiss continues to set the pace for the team offensively, having collected 13 points through nine total games to date. Right behind him with eight points is the trio of Chris Hibson, Austin Kaminaris, and Patrick McKiernan. Hibson was recently named to the EHL All-Star Team that will head to New York for a pair of exhibition matchups against Nazareth College and SUNY Brockport on October 21st and 22nd.
As for the back end of the Avalanche lineup, Shane Peremba and Antoine Robidoux have split the six wins equally, each picking up three total victories to date.
Things have gone a little bit better for the Avalanche EHLP team over the past six games, as the squad put together a 5-1-0 mark over that time period.
Led by AJ Guzzardi's 15 total points to date, the Avalanche actually have three total players with double-digit point totals so far this season, as Zach Needham has collected 12 points to his credit and Michael Gallant has 11 points to date. In total, 21 different players have notched at least a point so far this season.
As for the netminders, Alex Gerard leads the way with a perfect record of 5-0-0, while Dylan Lowe has also earned a pair of wins to his credit so far this year.
U15's went 1-0-1 over the weekend to remain in first place. The team found themselves down early on Saturday night, but battled back from a 3-1 deficit to end in a 4-4 tie. Sunday found the same two teams squaring off again, this time with better results. Once again the team had to battle back from being down 2-1, but had a nice goal by Casey Fuller set up by Ronan Connors and Brady Proulx to tie up. As another time looked inevitable, some great work down low by Tyler Lessard lead to a goal by Joe Philips with under 2 minutes to play for the 3-2 victory.
The team was also showing their support for Breast Cancer Awareness month and supporting one of our amazing team moms. Great weekend #Team Lacroix!
The 2010 Elite team played the Boston Advantage 2010 Elite team on Saturday, 10/1 at the Ice Den. It was a tight game, both teams were back and forth until the 3rd period where the Avs dominated and ultimately won 4-3. On Sunday 10/2, the Avs travelled to Montpelier, VT to verse the VT Flames in two back to back games. The Avs did not come out on top but not due to lack of effort, especially in the second game where both teams battled hard but the Avs came up short and were defeated 5-2. The 2010 Avs look forward to playing the Thunderbirds and Americans this coming weekend.
This weekend the Avalanche hosted 2 E9 opponents at the Ice Den. On Saturday, the Avalanche took on the Railers in a what should be a fun matchup to watch this season. The Railers came out early and built a lead the Avalanche battled back but struggled to find the back of the net ultimately losing 6-3 in the first of the 5 matchups between the teams this season. After their first loss in the E9 this season the Avalanche bounced back against the Spartans with a 9-1 win, in what was one of their best complete games of the season that saw 7 different players finding the back of the net.
After the first few weeks of the season the 2011 Elite team is 6-3-2 overall and 4-1 in the E9. The 2011 Elite team will take to Marlboro, MA this coming weekend to compete in the EHF FED Series invitational tournament against some of the best teams in the area.
Back in action on the road this week, the Mite Elite took on the Seahawks in Hyannis, MA, Saturday afternoon with a short bench. The Avalanche only had 8 skaters. The game ended in 4-4 tie, due to incredible goaltending on both ends of the ice, with Richmond standing tall for the Avs. Joey Freda led the scoring with two goals, Stasko and Merten each tallied one to round off the scoring. All in all, it was an astounding team effort to draw the tie with a short bench against the solid Seahawks.
The Mite Elite will be back in action in two weeks with a couple of games. The first is a rematch against he Seahawks, and the other is the first game of the season at the Middlesex Icemen in East Boston.
